From Dirt to Design: Landscaping Wisdom

 Landscaping Tips & Tricks

1. Start with a Plan. Sketch your space on paper. Mark out where you want beds, walkways, or features like fire pits.

2. Measure Twice, Buy Once. Use a measuring tape to figure out the square footage of your space so you can order the right amount of soil, mulch, or stone. This saves time, money, and stress.

3. Keep It Simple. Don’t overcomplicate it. Start with one area, like a flower bed or patio edge and expand as you go.

4. Use landscape fabric under stone or mulch. Laying down fabric under mulch or decorative stone keeps weeds at bay and helps your design stay low-maintenance.

5. Go With bagged if bulk feels overwhelming. Bulk is cheaper per yard, but if you’re not ready to deal with wheelbarrows and shovels, smaller bagged quantities make it easy to test things out.

6. Match your materials to your lifestyle. Want low-maintenance? Use decorative stone. Love planting? Go with mulch and nutrient-rich topsoil.Looking to entertain? Pavers for patios or fire pits are a great investment.

7. Use edging to keep things clean. Plastic, metal, or stone edging helps keep mulch or stone in place and makes your space look tidy with less work.

8. Don’t skip the prep work. Removing weeds, leveling the area, and tamping the soil before laying pavers or mulch saves you from big problems later.

9. Mix It Up. Combine materials like mulch for beds and decorative stone for walkways to create contrast and interest.

10. Ask for Help! You don’t need to go it alone. Call your local landscape supply store (like us!) with questions, that’s what we’re here for.
